With all that is going on in the world... other than the Bible... this book is a must read.
Atlas Shrugged was written in 1957 at a time when the cold war was just this side of going hot... it tells a fundamental story of what Socialism, as the weed it is, with high-minded social ideals and heavy handed government, does to achievers and producers at the height of its bloom. And what one man did to bring it to its knees.
John Galt, an engineer who refused to have his intellectual property confiscated at the point of a gun to serve others who it did not belong too... waged a "war of attrition" on the system that hunted him, and refusing to bend to its will.
In today's world, the steps taken by Liberals/Socialists to achieve power and impose their ideology, almost literally occurred in the story line of Atlas Shrugged. Philosophical in nature. This book brings an awareness to the reader that what is being told in the story is not implausible for Socialists of today to achieve... and in the process, what the reader will lose.
This book is required reading at the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.... and it should be elsewhere as well.
