AP: Matt Lauer staying home because of the economy

Looks like Matt Lauer won't be getting to jet off to some cushy place on NBC's dime anymore. It appears that Mr. Lauer will be doing his show "Where in the world is Matt Lauer?" somehere in the US rather than somewhere internationally deferring to the economy.

""Today" Executive Producer Jim Bell said he had solicited suggestions from viewers for this year's "Where in the World Is Matt Lauer" trip. Instead, many told him that in bad economic times, the extravagant trip sent the wrong message. "

The part he neglects to mention is that Matt Lauer just by opening his mouth sends the wrong message... its more propaganda than it is journalism. On the other hand his doing a show locally somewhere in the US is probably more due to the dire financial straits NBC finds itself in these days.
