New Orleans Cigar Factory

Sitting near the waterfront on Decatur Street, and just on the edge of the French Quarter, is a little shop known as the New Orleans Cigar Factory. The shop is a bit on the barren side, but that is apart of the feel. Like you're in some place in Latin America or the Caribbean as you watch the folks behind a counter, cut and hand roll cigars in the traditional way.
Currently, they have three varieties: The Plantation Reserve, Vieux Carre, and Tres Homanos. From the former to the latter, the flavors are mild to strong, as well as the shade of the wrappers.
The Plantation Reserve when in hand feels well constructed and a mildly pleasant aroma. The wrapper appears to be Connecticut Shade. The flavor as you would expect is mild and very pleasant. Definitely an 'easy-listening' cigar which goes great with a nice flavored cognac such as Navan or Grand Marnier (I recommend the 150 but that's another post)
The Vieux Carre (In Big Easy speak means 'The French Quarter') is a little darker than the Reserve. The flavor is medium to full bodied with some spicy hints in the taste. A note on the palette is a hint of chocolate.
If you're ever in The Big Easy... check out the New Orleans Cigar Factory.
