Greetings from Maui!! We arrived Wednesday at 10:00 P.M. (which was 4:00 a.m. back home.. talk about a long day!) The plane ride for being 10 hours long, went surprisingly fast, though the airline for the connecting flight via puddle jumper to Maui had to play musical gates for an hour before they figured out what plane we were going to use. (Hawaiian Air). When we finally arrived at the Sheraton, we were warmly greeted with a lei, valet parking, and curbside assistance to bring us to our room. The beauty of the check-in process here is they have your room keys ready and no need to visit the front desk. Both of us were exhausted so we went right to bed and woke up to a beautiful sunrise and a spectacular view of the ocean from our private balcony. We later had breakfast in the Keka’a Terrace Restaurant which has a great breakfast buffet, (but a bit pricey… Hey, its Hawaii). And we were joined by a few somewhat uninvited guests at our table, though quite cute when they’re hungry; a few sparrows and a dove. They sat on the umbrellas and peered down at us. Steve took a small piece of a donut and put it at the far end of the table, where one of the sparrows swooped down, sat for a second and looked at us, then snatched it and flew off… with a handful of his buddies in tow.
After some shopping out in town at the Lahaina Cannery Mall (Which has some nice little shops), we spent the early afternoon by the pool for a few hours and occasionally taking a few laps around the pool and cooling off with a pina colada. The pool area is quite interesting where there is a main pool area, with water trails heading off across the hotel’s courtyard area joining a second pool area. The water trails form an island in the middle where the Lagoon Bar sits. After feeling well roasted, and chilled, we headed off to the Lagoon Bar for a quick lunch. Steve tried the local brew called a Longboard. This beer reminds someone of a heifer weissen (wheat beer), but with a very hoppy spicy flavor… which of course… he ended up with a second one.

We’ll keep you posted.. Please check back for updates.
