Thank You!
Wednesday's Rush Limbaugh Morning Update:
Dateline: 14 October 2009
The headline reads: "Conservatives Gun for Obama." Article written by Anne Davies, Washington correspondent for The Brisbane Times. Aussie. Down Under. What had Ms. Davies' undies in a wad? Well, I'll read it:
"Within hours of President Barack Obama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, his political enemies were out in force. The coarse, right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh -- viewed by some as the real leader of conservative Republicans -- lashed out with a ferocity that even for him was almost artery-popping. In the US, most Americans revere the presidency even if they take issue with its occupant from time to time. Clearly, Limbaugh and some other Republicans have moved beyond that, as did some Democrats in the latter years of George Bush's second term."
Ms. Davies then said I seem to have "no limits," and quoted me saying Obama is a "laughingstock" for getting the prize; it was nothing more than the Europeans trying to "neuter him." She also quoted me thus: "George Bush liberates 50 million Muslims. Ronald Reagan liberates hundreds of millions of Europeans, saves parts of Latin America. Any awards? No. Just derision. Obama gives speeches trashing his own country and he gets a prize for it." And, "This fully exposes, folks, the illusion that is Obama. This is a greater embarrassment than losing the Olympics bid was!"
Ms. Davies, you have done something your American counterparts in journalism refuse to do: You actually listened. You quoted me accurately. For that, I thank you, and America thanks you. You're a very rare journalist.
