The US Owes Its Greatness To The ABSENCE of Government.

In this morning's update, Rush made a point that throughout our history as a nation, the success of the US has been one that rewarded hard work and ingenuity. Those that were lazy... were not successful and deservedly so. Yet in the past four or five decades, the view which was born out of a socialist (My word not his... he used liberal) point of view... the playing field could be leveled, and that much can be GIVEN to people rather than work for it with the advent of numerous, ad infinitum government programs (Such as Fannie and Freddie) and policies that would ensure the under achievers receive their 'fair share' for their support. Rush's thoughts on this are that we are at a crossroads of sorts where we have the opportunity to take the country back to that hardworking time of our past, that success is earned and never given. I would definitely agree with this point of view.
However, the ponzi scheme that these programs/policies, and political Hack-tivism on the part of the entrenched socialists have created, has caused the present crisis to emerge, whereby the hard working, heavily-taxed, segment of the American populus, will have to foot the bill yet again for the those that are along for the ride.
Charity is a beautiful thing when given from one individual to another... when its from government to the masses, its tyranny, and this notion that the government will provide for the people, is already the signal of a decline in America.
As Ben Franklin stated: "The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself." ... Amen
