The VP Debate - Sarah Spanks Biden Over Taxes

October 6, 2008 by sbaetz

Rush focuses this morning on the moments in the debate where Sarah Palin calls Joe Biden on the carpet about his statement that paying taxes is "patriotic." During the debate, was not the first time he had made that comment, and in her rebuttal, Sarah asserted that paying taxes is NOT patriotic and that the biggest problem the majorit of americans see is Government getting in the way. Biden thus had to run to the old liberal notion that the "confiscation of money from one group to benefit another is rooted in fairness" (Quoting Rush in the morning update). Additionally, this concept has been the core of the liberal mantra for years, and today with the mortgage debacle, this concept is showing the danger it poses. This same danger is shown in how the young are being taxed to pay the retirement of the old, as well as how enemy combatants are treated after capture...aka the fight by the Democrats to release the detainees at Gitmo.

Rush made the statement that the "fairness" aspect is from the "75 year old liberal playbook... noting that age, and how is somewhat coincides with that of Socialism in this country, its time we call liberalism what it is. American Socialism... No more no less and nothing different in between. On this site, and other places I've quoted Norman Thomas, the American Socialist from the '40's:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

Another quote is attributed to him that states: "Dissent... is a right essential to any concept of the dignity and freedom of the individual; it is essential to the search for truth in a world wherein no authority is infallible."

I have a question for Mr. Thomas or some other liberal "scholar"... If dissent is ok when you believe in socialism and want to supplant a constitutional representative republic, where you impose your will on others... Will you still believe its ok, when the dissent is directed at you who are the Socialists IN power, to supplant Socialism in favor of a Constitutional Representative Republic?

... I think not... "Lock and Load."
